My boss is brand new. I was reminded of that 2 weeks ago.
He doesn't even live on this side of the state. My local PO is not doing well. There have been alot of posts about it recently.

I showed up at orientation today with the thought that I am not going to be starting this job, but I could still be convinced.

So far I spilled my water in my bag, all of my notebooks and gloves absorbed the water.
Now I am sitting in a stinky lunch room because I don't fit into any of the other 2 groups that are here. For some reason I don't get to listen to the union discussion either. What is up with that?

I finally did get a human being. I found out about 5 extra steps that were required but communicated no where prior. Plus she didn't know how to request another book be shipped to me.

I am about to write a letter declining the job offer. How strange is that.
To tell you the truth, I am really super scared about doing it. Its pretty fucked up.
The whole system sucks and I can't see myself taking this job and feeling good about it.
I have been delaying doing this, dreading any backlash from the locals about this, but really can anyone blame me for backing out at this point?

It was such a dream job with the location. I'm having a really hard time with this. It sucks.

It was such a fun idea. And then the reality of waiting since October to start this job. And to be hired right away into this position-is unheard of.

It is a letdown.
Parts of me were unsure about the job from the start, but because of the cool location I was overlooking that discomfort. On one hand I would have had only 1 day off a week during the summer, but living in hiking territory would be fine w/ me as I could just go out in nature any day for a walk. But on the other hand if I really did need to or want to get out it would be difficult. I wouldn't be able to leave on spur of the moment-but need to plan all outs during the summer to have a back up person come in from another town. I thought I could probably manage it for a summer at least. Alot of people work really hard up there during the summer and then the winter is slow.
But I don't think I would have lasted long in that sort of environment.

The post office system is really broken.
