Banks and Costumes!

I almost made a separate thread for this. I didn't know this was a thing as I can't recall having gone into a bank on Halloween. I am in a "We work at banks and we hate our jobs" group on FB (That isn't the real name, but should be) and there are so many pictures of how people dressed up today. And many do themes and have props. I mean one bank did a whole scooby doo-and even had someone make a mystery machine van for the lobby.
WTF
The gals at my branch dressed up also and I didn't want to be left out so I did too.

I was so certain that banks would not allow costumes. I am really surprised. (There were a few in the forum that posted sad faces and said their financial insitutions didn't allow it)

I mean I could almost stay in this job for this alone. (not really) :D

Indeed.
No one dressed up as a bank robber, but I did see pictures of other banks where someone did.

A girl's husband was exposed to covid, so they are both going to quaranteene and that means we are once again down a teller.
By exposed-he was in someone's house who ended up testing positive, like he wasn't even in thier house at the same time. I need to live w/ people!

Living with people seems not advisable these days.

I got to have another 1 on 1 with my manager last week! It was less than exciting. It was all going fine until she told me after observing me for 4 customers that I never said thank you when they left.
OH FFS I am sure they all left saying, "What an asshole Mirah is!"
So then the next day I said thank you sooo many times it was ridiculous.

They should just place a WELCOME THANK YOU WELCOME THANK YOU WELCOME THANK YOU robot by the front door to take care of the empty pleasantries.

I actually got a "Well Done" card the other day for having several "Digital conversations" with my customers. Fuck. The card allows me to go to a website and choose some sort of prize-that usually have the bank logo plastered all over it!

Also,
I belong to a "I'm a banker/Tellar" group on FB. There is someone who is a new tellar and she asked the question, "How do I initiate conversations with the customers?"
There was a variety of answers-some of which I was surprised-like some tellars just said, "Don't talk, just do the transaction" I know they don't work at the same bank name that I do because we are required to ask questions and be friendly. IT SUCKS! I HATE IT! I mean I think I have genuine conversations with people and I do it my way and I'm not fake about it.

So there were a few answers that looked like this:
Someone said, "A warm welcome with a smile" I'm like that is from my bank. Also this one:
Honestly this is a great question! With banking becoming more and more “sales” driven the conversation with the client is soooooo important. Especially to ease into those advice conversations!

And then:

The easiest convo starter right now is to ask if they have any fun plans for the holidays or if they have started their holiday shopping yet. Or compliment their hair, outfit, jewelry, purse, car etc

AND THEN:
(Sorry the one above wasn't neccesarily from my same financial institution-but I was thinking how annoying it was because "FUN PLANS FOR THE HOLIDAYS?!" WTF!

I will add that if an FI has a referral system/goals for the team to reach, being friendly and asking regular non bank related questions can really help pinpoint opportunities to present and match a need to a product/service which will help the customer and also help your personals goals too.

*~*~*~**~*~*
Personal Goals?! That is definitly my financial institution. We are supposed to have these-my personal goal is to get out of this job as fast as I can! :D

Wow. Some of these people are still getting their strategies from 1980s Tom Peters books, and old SkillPath seminars. Have they looked out a window since Clinton was president?
