So my mom recently got ROKU and she has been binge watching Little House on the Prairie. So I've been watching it with her.

I so remember Little House being a happy go lucky show, I did not remember all of the dying and plagues and deaths, did I say deaths? Oh my gosh.

A few key episodes I recall were some of the snow storms and the terrible one where Mrs Ingalls almost cut off her leg. But most of all I thought it was a happy show. This is quite the tear jerker!

Yeah that show was into Tragedy Porn very often, lol.

My Roku Channel is basically locked on the Jeopardy Channel, because I miss me some Alex Trebek...

Little House had much tougher lives, but the Waltons had a whole herd of children. Of course grandma and grandpa were too old to fight, and Mary went blind... they're probably even.

I finally saw an episode of the Waltons. wow, the whole Billy Bob and John Boy vibe-there is a family where I live that could be them.

Today's episode of Little House, James gets $15 from his rich uncle and goes to the bank to deposit the $ instead gets shot by a bank robber. Charles and Mr Edwards take off on a man hunt with Albert following close behind.
Now James is laying comotose in a bed and Caroline is rolling up her sleeves.

Little House has Nellie Olsen and Mrs. Olsen, so they have the advantage of unanticipated evil surprise...

True, but would Nellie join the Waltons against the Ingalls out of spite?

On Today's episode of Little Murder House on the Prairie, After her pestering, Pa finally takes Laura hunting, against Ma's wishes and when Laura unrolls her bedroll accidently shooting Pa, Mirah puts the TV on mute because she can't stand the tragedy and then she reads up on the rest of the episode, obviously knowing that Pa or Laura don't die, but the horse does! and the only person to help them back to civilization is a blind, angry man in a cabin.
Might as well call this episode Odysseus.

A lot of the episodes were written by Michael Landon, and he directed most of them, he led that show with an iron fist.

He must have been kinds twisted in his "wholesome", patriarchal ways...

Plus the "removes his shirt" scenes. WHICH ARE ALWAYS SHOCKING. That man was built.

I found a Little House book in the PO lending library, read it, told my mom about it, she wanted to read it so I sent it to her, and then she got all of the Little House books, read them and sent all of them to me. I now have 9 little house books to read and I'm not upset about it.
I just imagine my mom going to the PO in her town every week, telling them about a story, or about little house or I DON'T KNOW WHAT. And I hope they were nice to her! :D

 That's so sweet!

Does Nellie become a roller derby queen in the books too?

Oh my gosh. I've only just started reading one of them. Since I got a slightly better internet connection I've been watching shows instead. I will have roommates next week, maybe I will do more reading then.
