Mastodon & other Twitter alternatives

Post by Mirah »

People are moving from Twitter to Mastodon. I have installed it on my phone and can now use it there or on a browser. I seem to have connected successfully with the recovery peeps that I hang out with on twitter. I don't know if I will use it for anything else.

I am curious what all of the servers mean? I signed up with the best sounding one since it said I could access people anyways. I just don't understand what it all means.

And then people are mentioning metatext and tusky. What are those? Apps for phones. Okay, why do I need those instead of just accessing Mastodon directly on my phone.
It is so confusing.

I will stay on twitter also until it blows up or whatever.

Or I could just try to find my answers here, in an article that was posted on the site.

Thanks for the link. I've been trying (not too hard) to figure out how it works myself.

I haven't joined yet but I might soon, if only to protect some of my usernames.

There's also Tribel, Counter Social, Hive, and Post as options. Plus some people are just moving back to Tumblr, or relying only on their Instagram.

Not many people mentioning Facebook
